This “New Qigong Therapy” that Master Guo Lin composed includes: anti-cancer fitness exercises, health care exercises, as well as "Qigong Wu Qin Xi" and other special exercises. This set of exercises has its origin in the ancient Qigong exercises, but is also different from ancient Qigong, so Master Guo Lin called it "New Qigong Therapy", also known as "Self-Electrical Therapy", and commonly known as "Inhale-Inhale-Exhale". In 1984, after Master Guo’s death, in memory of her, her students renamed this set of exercises to “Guolin Qigong” or “Guolin New Qigong”. In 1998, in order to better promote this set of exercises, the famous Immunologist Professor Feng Lida suggested to rename it as the “anti-cancer fitness exercise”.
Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth. The large number of cases of the practice of wonderful Qigong proves that: Qigong can tap the inherent potential of the body and give full play to maximize it, balance Yin and Yang, reconcile Qi and blood, dredge the meridians, and nurture “genuine Qi”; thus Qigong can achieve the magical results of healing and fitness, physical strength and longevity.
On September 4, 1971, Master Guo Lin resolved to bring this set of exercise to the community, and teached it openly, free of charge, in hospitals and parks. This was welcomed and loved by the patients and the broad masses of the people.
Because Guolin Qigong has unique anti-cancer health effects, it attracts the attention of more and more cancer patients and people suffering from ailments of unknown causes and chronic diseases. It even spreads overseas, to Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Germany, Canada, Japan, the United States and dozens of countries and regions. There are countless cases of people successfully practicing Guolin Qigong to heal their ailments. Many people suffering from advanced stage of cancer rely on Guolin Qigong-based combination therapy to overcome cancer and return to health, such as Gao Wenbin, Yu Taiyuen, Sun Wencai and Tang Lingli. Guolin Qigong also benefited many people suffering from ailments of unknown causes and chronic diseases, such as: Shan Changli and Wang Jian who suffered from hepatitis B; Yang Xinju who suffered from lupus erythematosus; Li Ping and Liu Guilan who suffered from heart disease and diabetes.
Today, although Master Guo Lin has departed, not only has she left us this set of exercises that has saved tens of thousands of lives, but her noble deeds also affect far more people --- saving countless souls so that many knowledgeable people with lofty ideals follow Master Guo Lin one after another.
In 1993, the research team led by Professor Zha Liangqi, from the Information Technology Physics department on the campus of Peking University, applied modern information technology to a comprehensive and systematic study of the curative effect and anti-cancer mechanism of Guolin Qigong. Many scientists and physicians were involved in this study. Using modern means they had effectively proved the significant curative effect of Guolin Qigong in combating cancer and disease prevention. This study produced many award-winning papers, and received support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, project number: 69371030.
